Having performed in twenty countries around the world, violist and conductor Richard Fleischman has received numerous honors, most notably the Windsor Prize, personally awarded to him by Leonard Bernstein; and the Edward Steuermann Memorial Prize, the highest award bestowed by The Juilliard School. His extensive career over the last twenty-five years as soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician and pedagogue has brought him much acclaim. Professor of viola at Miami's New World School of the Arts, his viola students have acheived great success. He currently performs as violist of the Delray String Quartet and as principal violist of the Santa Fe Opera Orchestra. Richard Fleischman lives in Miami, Florida and Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico.
